Coach and Minibus Hire in the United Kingdom

Heathrow arrivals for families, wedding parties and teams

After a long flight nobody wants to stand outside wondering where the transport has got to. At Heathrow your vehicle is called forward once everyone has their bags, so the whole thing hinges on telling the right person the moment you're ready.

How a group is collected

A coach doesn't hover outside arrivals. It's held back at the West Ramp Coach Park (open 06:00 to 22:00) until a marshal sends it to a stand on your terminal's forecourt. When the last suitcase is off the belt, your group leader finds the Forecourt Coach Marshal and says you're ready.

Once it pulls in, the driver has 20 minutes on the stand. That's generous if you're waiting with bags in hand and tight if someone has wandered off for a coffee, so keep everyone together. You'll board from stops 16 to 16B in lane 1 at Terminal 5, stops 18 and 19 in lane 3 at Terminal 4, stops 9 and 10 at Terminal 3, and stops 13 and 14 in lane 3 at Terminal 2.

Minibus, coach and the drop-off charge

The marshalled system is built around coaches. For a family of seven or a wedding party of twelve, a minibus is often the easier fit: tell us how many are travelling and roughly how many cases, and the quote will name the vehicle and where the driver will meet you.

On the way home, coaches set down in bays at each terminal, on the upper departures level at Terminal 5. They're fully discounted from Heathrow's Terminal Drop-Off Charge; taxis and private hire cars pay it. If your party is small enough for a car, ask whether the quote covers that charge.

Good to know at London Heathrow Airport

  • Scheduled coaches for Terminals 2 and 3 use the Central Bus Station between the two terminals, above the Underground station; Terminals 4 and 5 have coach stops outside arrivals.
  • Drivers must stay with their vehicle while it is in the terminal area; the forecourts are patrolled and vehicles must move on when asked.
  • Before 06:00 and after 22:30 coach drivers may go straight to the terminal without a permit.
  • Coach drop-off bays for departing groups are provided at each terminal; at Terminal 3 coaches set down on the departures forecourt, lane 1, and at Terminal 5 on the departures forecourt (upper level), lane 2.
  • Heathrow's Terminal Drop-Off Charge applies to the drop-off zones in front of every terminal; buses and coaches receive a full discount automatically, but taxis and private hire vehicles pay it, by midnight the day after the visit.

The ride into London

Trafalgar Square is roughly 17 miles away, about 40 minutes when the roads are clear and noticeably longer in the rush hour. If you land at dawn after a night flight, a first night at one of the Bath Road hotels by the airport lets everyone sleep before tackling the city.

Your questions

What happens if our flight is late?

Share the flight number when you book and a quick message when you land. Coach slots at the West Ramp are tight: drivers can't arrive more than 10 minutes before their booked time or wait there longer than 30 minutes before collecting, so good timing matters more than a long wait.

Will the driver come and find us in arrivals?

Not while the vehicle is on the forecourt, because Heathrow requires drivers to stay with it there. Choose a group leader who'll get through passport control quickly and let them be the link with the marshal.

We land very early in the morning. Does that change anything?

It can make things easier. Outside the hours of 06:00 to 22:30 no forecourt permit is needed and a coach can head directly for the terminal, which suits those dawn long-haul arrivals.

Half of us fly into a different terminal. Can one vehicle collect everyone?

Yes, but gather in one terminal first. Agree the meeting terminal before you fly and tell us, so the vehicle is sent to one stand rather than two.
