Coach and Minibus Hire in the United Kingdom

Nottingham Minibus Hire for Castles, Caves and Cup Ties

Nottingham packs a castle, caves under the Lace Market and two football grounds a few hundred yards apart into one small city. With a driver, your group can take in all of it and still get out to Sherwood Forest before tea.

Six places to hop off

The council keeps six drop-off points around the centre: Mount Street, Wellington Circus, South Sherwood Street, Belward Street, Station Street and Peveril Street. They're for getting on and off only, with no waiting or parking, so your driver sets you down, heads off, and comes back at the agreed time.

Heading for the castle? Mount Street is your stop, and Robin Hood's statue and the famous old pub, Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, are close by. Belward Street sits opposite the Motorpoint Arena, which is useful after an ice hockey game or a concert.

Flying in

From East Midlands Airport up the A453 to Old Market Square is a drive of 14 or 15 miles; on quiet roads, allow 25–30 minutes. Birmingham is about an hour away if your flights suit it better. Hotels at Castle Donington, right by East Midlands, are a good choice for an early departure.

Days out from the city

Newstead Abbey, once Lord Byron's home, is about 25 minutes north. Sherwood Forest and the Major Oak take around 40 minutes, as does Belvoir Castle, and Southwell Minster is closer still. Chatsworth and Lincoln are each about an hour, which makes either one an easy full-day trip for a family gathering or club outing.

Goose Fair and match days

Visiting as September turns to October? You may coincide with Goose Fair, ten days of free funfair rides off Gregory Boulevard. Expect slow going on the city's northern side while it's on. On the plus side, Nottingham has no charging Clean Air Zone, so that's one thing you won't need to plan around.

The City Ground and Meadow Lane are only about 300 yards apart by the Trent, with Trent Bridge cricket ground in West Bridgford too, so leave extra time on big match days.

Your questions

Can the minibus wait for us at a drop-off point?

No. The city-centre points are strictly for setting down and picking up. Agree a pick-up time and place with the driver and keep your phone handy so you can message when you're ready.

Where is best to stay near the sports grounds?

Trent Bridge and West Bridgford put you close to the City Ground, Meadow Lane and the cricket, and the minibus can collect the group from there for everything else.

Can we visit Sherwood Forest and Newstead Abbey on the same day?

Yes. Both are north of the city and not far apart, so a morning at the abbey and an afternoon under the Major Oak makes a gentle, well-paced day.
