Golf breaks with the clubs in the back and a driver up front
A golf break is mostly about the golf, and a little about who drives home after the nineteenth hole. With a minibus and a driver, the bags go in the back, the group stays together and nobody draws the short straw.
Bags take more room than people
A full golf bag is bulkier than a suitcase, and a minibus with every seat taken has limited space behind the last row. Eight golfers with bags and cases often travel more comfortably in a 16- to 19-seat minibus than in a smaller vehicle. Mention trolleys and travel cases when you enquire.

St Andrews and the Scottish links
Staying in Edinburgh? St Andrews is some 50 miles off, about 75 minutes by road, which makes a gentle morning run to the first tee. The Old Course doesn't open for play on Sundays and some tee times come through a ballot, so fix the golf first and fit the transport around it.
The Open comes back to the Old Course from 11 to 18 July 2027. Expect the town to be very busy that week and plan pick-ups with extra time. Further north, Dornoch is under an hour's drive from Inverness, about 49 miles.
Rules worth knowing
- The Old Course is closed for play on Sundays
- On long touring days, a driver under the assimilated rules may drive no more than 9 hours (10 hours twice a week) and must take 45 minutes' break after 4.5 hours
Long days on tour
A week of links golf can mean a few hours on the road between courses. Once your vehicle seats more than eight passengers, a tour like this usually falls under the assimilated (formerly EU) rules, with a break due after four and a half hours at the wheel and a daily driving cap. Some journeys come under the GB domestic rules instead, with a 16-hour limit on the duty day. Either way, an early tee time followed by a long transfer may need a second driver or an overnight stop.
Scotland's city Low Emission Zones run all day, every day, and a vehicle that doesn't meet the standard can't simply pay to enter. If your hotel sits inside one, ask for a compliant vehicle.
Your questions
Can the driver wait while we play?
Often, if the course has space for the vehicle and the day's hours allow it. Otherwise you're dropped off and collected at the time you agree.
Do we need handicap certificates?
St Andrews Links asks golfers to bring one, and the Old Course has a maximum handicap. Check each club's own rules when you book tee times.
Can you book our tee times?
No, we arrange the transport only. Book the golf directly with the clubs, then send us the times and courses.
