Greenock Ocean Terminal by Minibus
Greenock Ocean Terminal looks out over the Firth of Clyde, some 24 miles from Glasgow by road. Some passengers are beginning or ending a cruise here, while others have a single day ashore and want to see as much of the west of Scotland as they can.
Making the most of a day ashore
A day ashore works best when it's planned backwards from the all-aboard time. Give us your ship's hours and the places you'd love to see, and the operator can tell you honestly what fits. Glasgow is about 35 to 45 minutes by road; Loch Lomond or Stirling Castle can work too if the ship stays long enough.
A minibus with a driver suits a small group from the same ship: one vehicle, your own pace, and photo stops where you want them. Keep the return leg generous, because the ship won't wait.

Starting or finishing your cruise
Glasgow Airport is about 14 miles away, around 25 to 30 minutes. There, group vehicles of every size share one uncovered loading area just outside the terminal, so you won't be hunting for your driver across several car parks. If the coach gets there before you land, it can wait a short while free in the airport's long-stay parking.
If your trip passes through central Glasgow, the city's Low Emission Zone applies. Scottish zones can't be paid to enter, so the vehicle must meet the standard; the M8 itself is outside the zone.

The terminal and the town
The cruise visitor centre opened in 2023, with an arrivals and departures hall, a restaurant and the Wyllieum gallery. Upgrades over the winter of 2025-26 widened the walkways and sped up baggage handling. Greenock town centre is only about three minutes' walk from the door.
Your questions
Where will our driver meet us?
The port publishes that taxis wait outside the terminal, but says little about larger vehicles. The operator will confirm the exact meeting point before your ship comes in.
Could we take the train to Glasgow instead?
Yes. ScotRail runs from Greenock Central, and the trip into Glasgow Central takes 35 to 40 minutes or so. That suits a couple heading into the city; a group wanting several stops in one day usually finds a minibus easier.
How far is it to Glasgow city centre?
About 24 miles by road, usually 35 to 45 minutes depending on traffic.
Can one vehicle take a larger group?
Yes. A 16-seat minibus covers most small groups; beyond that, a midi coach or full-size coach keeps everyone together.
