Sailing from Liverpool with Your Group
Ships in Liverpool tie up at a floating landing stage beside Princes Parade, with the city centre on the doorstep. The drive in is short, but the timing matters, because the port wants groups to arrive at their allotted time and not before.
On time beats early here
Cruise lines want groups to appear at their embarkation slot, no sooner, and to have transport collect them at the disembarkation time they've been given. The terminal building is small, and a crowd of vehicles arriving at once helps nobody. The port suggests arriving two to three hours before the ship is due to sail, and your cruise documents will give the exact slot.
Your driver sets down and picks up outside the main terminal building, where security staff manage who comes and goes. Inside there's a lounge with a café and a tourist information desk.

Arriving by plane or train
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is about 9 miles away, roughly half an hour on the road. Manchester Airport is about 36 miles, so allow 50 minutes to an hour. At John Lennon, where you meet the vehicle depends on its size and height: the airport has separate areas for low minibuses, taller ones and coaches, so ask for the exact spot before you fly.
Lime Street station is about 20 minutes on foot from the terminal, which sounds fine until you picture it with a week's luggage. A minibus from the station takes that walk off your hands.

An extra day in the city
Because the terminal is in the centre, many of Liverpool's sights are a 5 to 15 minute walk away, handy if you're staying the night before. For a day out by minibus, Chester is about 45 minutes from the city and Crosby Beach, home of Another Place, about 25. And because Liverpool doesn't run a charging Clean Air Zone, you won't face a daily emissions charge here.
Heading to the Wirral? The Queensway tunnel takes only lighter vehicles, so larger minibuses and coaches go through the Kingsway tunnel instead.
Your questions
Can the minibus drop us right outside?
Yes. Passengers are dropped off and collected outside the main terminal building, with security staff controlling access.
When should our driver come back for us?
Book the pickup for the disembarkation time your cruise line gives you. Arriving earlier than that only adds to congestion outside the terminal.
Is the terminal accessible?
The port describes it as fully accessible and offers help for passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility. If anyone needs a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, tell us when you enquire so the operator can arrange one.
